More measures to be announced today; multiple infections in schools

WILLEMSTAD - After several infections at different schools, the government has decided to take more far-reaching measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The exact content of the measures has not yet been announced. The government will hold a press conference today.

At the Albert Schweitzerschool Funderend Onderwijs (ASFO) a student from group three has tested positive for Covid-19. A while later the ASFO announced that a second case of Covid-19 at the school has become known. That is why it was decided at the last minute to keep the school closed on Monday, said VPCO chairman Maghalie van der Bunt-George in a letter to the parents.

The VSBO St Jozef will keep its doors closed on Monday because a student has tested positive.

A teacher at the Humanist school SKAIH has also tested positive. There are no classes on Mondays and Tuesdays and the students must stay at home.

The Mgr. Niewindt School there is also a student who tested positive. The school therefore remains closed on Monday.

Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath, epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth and Communications Director Maharo Isenia will be present at Monday's press conference. The government is calling on people to follow the press conference. The press conference starts at 11:30.
