WILLEMSTAD - More than 33,000 people have registered for the digital vaccination certificate or the QR Code. The majority have already received this QR code. Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas is satisfied with the use of the QR code and the checks, despite an error of judgment.

According to Pisas, an error of judgment was made when the digital vaccination certificate was launched. “The time between the request and the entry of the QR code at events was too short,” said the prime minister. In addition, some people did not receive their code despite the correct request. “In some cases, more than five applications were submitted by pressing the button too many times, causing problems.”

Furthermore, the Prime Minister is very satisfied with the checks carried out by Ronny Cornelis and Chayenne Gonzalez, who are part of the inspection team of the Ministry of Economic Development. Most catering establishments adhere to the corona measures.

“The inspection team never sets out with the intention of closing restaurants and beach clubs,” Cornelis emphasizes. Last week, during a check at a baseball game, an incident took place in which the minister was called by a spectator that the check team wanted to close the canteen. According to Cornelis, there were staff in the kitchen without a QR code.

“We are now taking small steps to slowly get back to normal,” said Pisas. Sports competitions must also be able to be attended in larger numbers. Due to uncertainty surrounding sporting events, the press conference had to be postponed. The Prime Minister emphasizes that only a vaccination certificate is not sufficient, attendees must be able to demonstrate the QR code.
