WILLEMSTAD - Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) will increase its budget for maintenance work by 1.3 million guilders in 2022. This is announced by the government company.
In 2021, RdK spent 11.5 million guilders on contractors responsible for maintenance work on the petroleum facilities. For 2022, this amount has been increased to 12.8 million guilders. This gives more contractors work.
Major maintenance work is planned for this year. For example, the storage tanks and the distribution pipes are being overhauled for major maintenance. In this way RdK wants to improve the supply of fuel to Curoil and Aqualectra. In addition, the public company creates extra jobs for the contractors.
There will also be more efficiency in regular maintenance. RdK has held a public tender for this among 24 contractors working on the refinery site. Thirteen of these have been selected. The number of employees carrying out routine maintenance work has thus been reduced from 137 to 69.
Finally, RdK reports that the process to find a new operator for the refinery is underway.
