WILLEMSTAD – A joint enforcement team carried out coordinated inspections at several locations across Curaçao, resulting in the detention of dozens of undocumented individuals and the temporary closure of multiple businesses operating without the required permits.

The operation was conducted by a multidisciplinary team consisting of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), Immigration services of the Korps Politie Curaçao (KPC), the KPC’s Detective Services (DGC), the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Social and Health Insurance Bank (SVB), the Ministry of General Affairs (GMN), PATH, and ACOC.

Apartment complexes inspected

During the operation, two apartment complexes located at Dein 11–21 and Dein Kavel 5 were inspected. At these locations, a total of 15 undocumented individuals were detained by immigration authorities.

Controls at businesses on Cubaweg

The team also carried out inspections at five businesses located at Cubaweg 99. Two establishments, DYD Bar Restaurant and Temptation Bar, were found to be in compliance with the requirements of MEO and were allowed to continue operating.

However, the business Shamin was ordered to cease operations after failing to present any valid permits or documentation. In addition, two hotdog stands at the same address were shut down because they did not possess the required economic permits.

At the Cubaweg 99 location, a total of 21 individuals were detained during the inspections.

BBQ truck cleared

A BBQ truck located at Cubaweg 142 was also inspected during the operation. Authorities reported that this business was fully compliant and allowed to continue operations without restrictions.

The authorities emphasized that the joint controls are part of ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws, labor regulations, and economic permit requirements, and to ensure fair and lawful business practices across the island. Further inspections are expected in the coming period.
