No Increase in Venezuelan Migration Detected, Authorities Remain on Alert

Main news | By Correspondent January 14, 2026

THE HAGUE – Authorities within the Kingdom have not observed an increase in migration from Venezuela following recent developments, according to the Dutch government. Nevertheless, contingency planning remains in place should circumstances change.

The governments of Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire continue to closely monitor migration flows under existing agreements on border control and migration cooperation. These include joint protocols involving immigration services, police forces, and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.

The Dutch Ministry of Asylum and Migration is also working with Caribbean partners to update emergency scenarios for a potential surge in arrivals. While current assessments show no elevated inflow, officials stress that preparedness is essential given Venezuela’s ongoing instability.
