'No room for Curaçao Tourism Authority under current government'

Main news | By Correspondent September 23, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - There will be no Curaçao Tourism Authority (CTA) under the current government. Minister Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia announced this.

The CTA should play an important role in restructuring and strengthening the tourism sector and making it more sustainable. “The budget has already been prepared by the former government before the replacement of the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) was named,” said Larmonie-Cecilia. “The new government doesn't see why we should convert the CTB to the CTA. According to the figures, the CTB can do everything about new challenges.”

The CTA model distinguishes itself in that half of the board would be appointed by the government and the other half by the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA). CHATA has informed the they are not yet officially aware of the news and would like to talk to Minister Ruisandro Cijntje, Larmonie-Cecilia's successor within the Ministry of Economic Development.
