WILLEMSTAD - The PAR faction in parliament wants to publicly indicate that it is grateful for the support that the Netherlands has given since the start of the corona crisis. Party faction leader Stephen Walroud states that the party finds it important to show public support for the many millions in support that have come to Curaçao. Without Dutch aid, Curaçao "would have fallen into an unprecedented deep abyss," Walroud said. According to him, first the private sector and then the public sector on the island would have completely collapsed.
Walroud says "that today we can manage the crisis and collectively stay afloat, because we have a stable government and because the Netherlands has pumped big money into our essential sectors". He emphasizes that in this way the rule of law has been secured, guaranteeing that everyone has access to the most necessary public services, food, street safety and medical care.
