WILLEMSTAD - The president of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), Richard Doornbosch, refused to assist Minister Javier Silvania of Finance during a parliamentary debate. The absence of Doornbosch was not appreciated by the Members of Parliament.
During the meeting, the cyber-attack on the CBCS was discussed. The president of the Central Bank informed Silvania that he was prepared to answer questions from parliament in writing afterwards.
Shortly after the start, the meeting was adjourned, the government was called upon to ensure that Doornbosch was present at the resumption.
According to the chairman of the coalition party MFK Amerigo Thodé, Doornbosch's absence shows a lack of respect for parliament. “No one is above Parliament, the representatives of the people.”
