WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas was in Costa Rica last weekend for the inauguration of the new president. Rodrigo Chaves was installed in San José on Sunday. Chaves, 60, a former finance minister, won the election against his opponent José María Figueres in April. In the past, the economist also worked for the World Bank. He resigned after being accused of sexual harassment.

Pisas met several leaders of the region during his working visit. On Saturday, he met the Prime Minister of Costa Rica, Christian Guillermet, the Vice President of El Salvador (Felix Ulloa Jr) and the President of the Dominican Republic (Luis Abinader).

Pisas represented the Kingdom at the inauguration of new presidents in the region. In March, he attended the inauguration of Chile's new president (Gabriel Boric).
