Pisas government requests postponement of termination of 12.5 percent salary cut

Main news | By Correspondent May 31, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curaçao has itself requested a postponement for terminating the 12.5 percent cut on civil servants' salaries. Prime Minister Gilmar 'Pik' Pisas announced this. This is because there were previously unmentioned conditions attached to the termination of the austerity measure, which the government first wanted to evaluate.

The conditions set include setting the standard for top incomes, funds in the budget to finance the termination and maintaining the 25 percent cut on the salary of ministers and Members of Parliament.

In addition, after the termination of the cut on civil servants' salaries, Curaçao will no longer receive permission from the Kingdom Council of Ministers to deviate from the budget norm, if there are no other unexpected developments.
