WILLEMSTAD - Five collaborating Curaçao government companies in the port and energy sector want a solar park on Isla West. The sustainable project 'Green Power' will eventually be delivered to companies on the island.
The solar park is being built on the most polluted part of the Isla site. This area is owned by Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK). The electricity would be produced from solar energy. This will then be stored on Isla West and then delivered to customers by RdK.
The companies located on the RdK sites around Schottegat and Bullenbaai will use green electricity. If it turns out that the supply is greater than the demand, the surplus is stored and delivered to Aqualectra, if they so wish.
The solar park is one of eight projects that Aqualectra, RdK, Curoil, Curaçai Ports Authority (CPA) and Curaçao Towage Company (KTK) want to realize. The five government companies have recently started a collaboration.
