WILLEMSTAD - The Plaza Hotel was sold at an auction this morning for 6.3 million guilders. It is not known yet who bought the hotel. In a statement the unknown buyer indicated that he did not want to disclose his identity yet.
As is known, two previous attempts were made to auction the hotel. Both times failed and there was no bank guarantee. Notary Igor Naaldijk stated afterward that the buyer was in possession of a bank guarantee.
Unconfirmed reports speak of the General Pension Fund Curaçao (APC) as the buyer. According to sources Director of the APC Eveline Kruithof-Bor was also present at the auction and went in with the buyer afterward.
