WILLEMSTAD - Police union NAPB wants to file a complaint against Rigoletto 'Rigo' Thodé with the U.N. body International Labor Organization (ILO). The cabinet employee of Minister of Justice Gilmar Pisas is said to have made a few statements over the weekend that have hit the nerves of various trade union leaders.
According to Thai Isidora-Lo-A-Njoe, chairman of the police union NAPB, Thodé would have threatened the chairman and vice chairman of civil servants’ union ABVO. Thodé stated that a prosecutor should have these union leaders locked up.
"We've never experienced this before," Isidora-Lo-A-Njoe indicated during a televised interview on Monday evening. “We find this statement unacceptable. There is no respect for trade unionism and the civil service.”
Isidora-Lo-A-Njoe is especially disappointed that Thodé, who has worked in the police force for years, has made this offending statement. The union leader hopes that the minister will call his cabinet employee to account.
Thodé denies having made this threat.
