Prime Minister Pisas Welcomes Indian Ambassador to Strengthen Ties Between Curaçao and India

WILLEMSTAD – On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas received the Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, Kumar Tuhin, for a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring areas of mutual interest.

The ambassador’s visit served as an introduction to Curaçao, which forms part of his diplomatic portfolio, and as an opportunity to deepen cooperation between both nations.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pisas emphasized Curaçao’s urgent need to attract more medical specialists. Ambassador Tuhin expressed his readiness to collaborate on facilitating the arrival of Indian physicians to work on the island. This initiative would take place in partnership with local medical universities, including Avalon University, St. Martinus University and the University of Curaçao.

Ambassador Tuhin noted that during his stay he will meet with various health-sector experts to further discuss medical cooperation and academic programs that could support Curaçao’s healthcare system.

In addition to healthcare, Prime Minister Pisas and Ambassador Tuhin exchanged views on opportunities in the economic and tourism sectors, while also highlighting the importance of capacity-building initiatives. The ambassador pointed to potential training and development programs available to professionals within the public sector.

Both leaders acknowledged the historical ties between Curaçao and India and reaffirmed their intention to intensify cooperation. The meeting took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, underscoring the shared commitment to maintaining an open and continuous dialogue for the benefit of Curaçao.
