THE HAGUE - Princess Beatrix will pay a working visit to Curaçao from 25 to 28 November. The visit is dedicated to 25 years of collaboration between nature organizations within the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) and the impact of the corona pandemic on the island.

DCNA is a collaboration between nature organizations on the six Caribbean islands. The organizations regulate nature management, sustainable fundraising, nature education and knowledge exchange. Princess Beatrix is patroness of the organization and will attend a DCNA convention on the future of the partnership. In addition, the princess will be present in the evening at a reception that Governor Lucille George-Wout offers to all representatives of DCNA and the government of Curaçao.

Princess Beatrix's program also consists of working visits on nature management and nature education. Carmabi Foundation is a DCNA partner on behalf of Curaçao. The princess will, among other things, follow a nature lesson with school children and be present at the release of a flamingo that has recovered after being admitted to a veterinary clinic.

In addition to DCNA's nature projects, the princess will visit Casa Manita, a shelter for girls aged four to fourteen. The girls live in shelter during the week because of a problematic home situation. The playground of the shelter has been set up with the help of the Samenwerking Fondsen Cariben (SFC) foundation.

Furthermore, Princess Beatrix will meet the initiators and local residents during a visit to a neighbourhood food plantation of the Help to Curacao Foundation. In the neighbourhood there are plants and trees that the residents themselves take care of and use to supplement their diet.
