WILLEMSTAD - The Digital Covid-19 Certificate (DCC) will soon be available for people with a booster vaccination and people with a recovery certificate. This is stated in the recently published ministerial regulation.
To make this possible, IT adjustments still need to be made. This is done by involved IT companies and is estimated to cost about 15,000 guilders.
“For the time being, the DCC for travel worldwide will be in use, so that the additional costs can be justified. The majority of the costs have already been taken into account when the scheme came into effect in October 2021. The additional costs will have to be covered in a budget-neutral way," according to the explanation.
The emergence of the omicron variant and the reduced effectiveness of the vaccines have led to the need for a third vaccination, the booster, for sufficient protection.
The booster vaccination program started in Curaçao in mid-December. "It therefore makes it necessary to also include the booster vaccination in the DCC," the explanation reads.
