WILLEMSTAD - Neysa Schoop-Isenia withdraws her candidacy for Minister. She indicated this in a letter to the political party MAN which presented her as their candidate. Schoop-Isenia was the intended new Minister of Economic Development, but there was commotion about a leaked memo during the screening.

The memo came from the Central Bank and was about her career at the Girobank. The memo ended up with Minister of Finance (also a MAN member) Kenneth Gijsbertha and was leaked to the media by a still unknown person.

Schoop-Isenia filed a complaint against the Central Bank for breaking the confidentiality obligation. This morning consultation took place between her, her lawyer and the bank.

Yesterday afternoon the letter came out in which Schoop-Isenia indicated that she was grateful for the opportunity to become a minister but withdrew as a candidate.
