WILLEMSTAD - The Supreme Electoral Council (SEC) of Curaçao announced yesterday evening that the candidate list for the parliamentary elections on March 19 will not be changed. Last Sunday, Almier Godett was shot dead. He was fourth on Trabou pa Kòrsou's list. The regulations prohibit any further changes to the lists as approved at the beginning of February. Therefore, it is also possible to vote for Godett even though he is dead. Votes for him will be added to the party’s total.
A similar situation occurred in the Netherlands when Pim Fortuyn was shot dead just before the 2002 elections. He received more than 1.3 million votes during the elections.
