WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath and Undersecretary of the Interior and Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops arrived in Curaçao yesterday afternoon. The government reports this in a press release.
Last weekend, according to the government, a lot of hard work was done to finalize the political agreement between Curaçao and the Netherlands. This is an agreement in principle that regulates long-term support and financial supervision of the Netherlands. Rhuggenaath was in the Netherlands in recent days, where he attended the Kingdom Council of Ministers last Friday.

Curaçao has asked the Netherlands for financial support after the island entered an economic crisis due to the corona pandemic. At that time, Curaçao did not agree with the conditions attached by the Netherlands to the aid.
The Kingdom Act that will be implemented regulates the Entity for Reform and Development (OHO). The Kingdom Act is currently still with the Council of State and must also be approved by the Parliament of Curaçao. After long negotiations, an agreement has been reached that both governments can agree with. What the agreement exactly looks like is still confidential by agreement.
The government reports that the political agreement between Curaçao and the Netherlands will be signed today.
