Student: 'They made me bend over naked'

Main news | By Correspondent September 8, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The police used excessive means of power during a weapons and drug check at Marnix College Cas Cora yesterday. Students had to drop their pants and bend over naked. A 15-year-old student spoke about his experiences.

"Everyone at school was monitored," says the student. The police came early in the morning and surprised the teachers. None of the teachers, nor the parents of the students, who are generally all minors, were aware of the inspection.

According to this student, every class of the school was completely searched and the bags of all students (about 500) were also examined. Then a number of students from each class were selected for 'a more in-depth check'.

"They took us two by two to the teacher's room. It was only there that we were told what was going to happen," says the student. They had to undress completely, leaving them naked in front of the police officers present and the other students. The next assignment was to bend down twice, so that 'it could be checked whether something would fall'.

And as if bending over naked wasn't enough, the student was also insulted by one of the officers: "You are the child of Prosperity, aren't you? The child of such a person must be selling drugs at school." The student's question as to why the officer was pulling at the collar of the polo shirt never got an answer.
