A unique and beautiful ninth edition
WILLEMSTAD - The ninth edition of CURA DOET was launched last year, on November 12, with the motto “Together with each other!” and that was actually the result! No fewer than 5,200 volunteers rolled up their sleeves for the ninth edition of CURA DOET.
On the first day of the campaign, many nursing homes and clubs took the opportunity to organize special activities that they normally cannot do. One of the highlights was the project of the Senior Health & Fitness Foundation. Together with their volunteers they played the famous domino game “Changa”, with a twist. A fun and unique experience for the elderly. For example, Grupo Grandinan di Maria Auxiliadora has organized a tour of Tafelberg for the elderly. An unforgettable morning for them too!
In contrast, on Saturday, several schools seized the opportunity to beautify their learning environment, such as Kolegio San José and Sint. Antonius College, both of which can now enjoy beautiful murals. Various schools, community centers, scouting organizations and other social initiatives have taken the opportunity to carry out cleanups, build or maintain greenhouses, transform playgrounds and gardens and refurbish their locations. In total, over the entire weekend, 278 social organizations realized a total of 301 projects. This would of course not have been possible without the help of the groups of friends, colleagues, students and families who participated en masse. “Another great achievement”, said Vicky Trinidad, project leader of CURA DOET. Many companies traditionally participate in CURA DOET and make it a great social day with their employees. Like every year, many companies contribute with manpower, expertise but also financial resources.
The organization of CURA DOET is in the hands of Curaçao Cares with the support of Het OranjeFonds and Reda Sosial. The organizers look back with satisfaction.
A word of thanks to the entire community, and especially to all the volunteers and coordinators who did a fantastic job this weekend. Together we stand strong, now more than ever!
