PARAMARIBO, WILLEMSTAD - The president of Suriname Chan Santhoki wants a closer partnership with Curaçao. In the past, there was an agreement for cooperation between the South American country and the Netherlands Antilles. Santhoki wants to continue this collaboration.

The Surinamese President said this to Justice Minister Shalten Hato, who was recently in the South American country for a security conference. The Surinamese president also said that he wants to exchange views with Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas in the short term. The statesman then wants to hit the nail on the head.

Santhoki also discussed the abolition of the visa requirement. From 1 May it will be easier to travel to Suriname. The 'mandatory' tourist card will be cancelled. Just like applying for a visa. This will be replaced by an 'entrance fee', which visitors have to pay on arrival in Suriname.
