WILLEMSTAD - The tax authorities are going after the tax money of 16,000 former Curaçao residents. This is stated in the first monthly management report of the tax authorities. The group that has been deregistering from the Civil Registrar (Kranshi) since 2018 has a joint tax debt of at least 36.7 million guilders.

The tax authorities go after these tax funds. According to the report, contacts have been made with the Fiscal Affairs Directorate in Curaçao and with the Central Liaison Office (CLO) in the Netherlands. The Tax and Customs Administration of the Caribbean Netherlands has also shared its experiences about international collection via the CLO.

The local support team will determine the next steps in consultation with the Special Collection team leader. The intention is to start the international repatriation of the first files in the short term.
