WILLEMSTAD - As the shareholder of several companies in the energy sector in the country, the government of Curaçao says its responsibility and priority is to ensure stability in this sector. In this framework, all decisions made are being analyzed in a critical way and with all necessary caution to guarantee the wellbeing of the community. The government stated this in a press release as a response to the decision of the supervisory board and the management of the Curaçao Refinery (RdK) to resign.
The government indicated that in the ongoing process within the RdK, it has confirmed that in a letter dated September 23, 2021, they have notified the supervisory board and the management that it no longer had confidence in them. In a written response of September 27, 2021, the RdK board and management indicated that they would make their positions available to the government as the shareholder.
The government indicated in its press release that while the process is still ongoing it will not give any comment. This to safeguard the integrity of the process and to respect the privacy of all involved.
