The Netherlands budgets 200 million for liquidity support in the fourth quarter

Main news | By Correspondent July 6, 2021

THE HAGUE - The Netherlands has reserved almost 200 million euros for the 7th tranche of liquidity support for the fourth quarter for Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten. This is apparent from the amendment to the budget for Kingdom Relations that Minister Kajsa Ollongren sent to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament.

The amount is divided as follows: 82.3 million for Curaçao, 88.7 million for Aruba and 23.5 million for Sint Maarten. The final amount will be determined in September when there is better insight into the current liquidity requirement. This is expected to decrease now that tourism has resumed. The aid is given in the form of loans at 0% interest. It will be decided in April whether these will be refinanced. Incidentally, the Netherlands withholds payment of the 6th installment to Curaçao and Sint Maarten because the countries, unlike Aruba, have not yet met the conditions.

Bonaire can count on a subsidy of (maximum) 3.4 million euros to compensate for lost income at Bonaire International Airport.
