This Monday, a decision about a possible new lockdown

Main news | By Correspondent December 9, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - This Monday December 14, it will become clear whether another lockdown will be imposed in Curaçao, Minister Steven Martina said during a briefing yesterday afternoon.

Then the government evaluates whether a lockdown is indeed necessary and will decide on it. That depends on the number of infections and how well the community complies with the rules.

The Netherlands has put the travel advice for Curacao on Code Orange yesterday, which in practice means a lot of canceled holidays and a big blow to tourism and catering.

Martina indicated that he wants to return to Code Yellow as soon as possible, and according to him that can only be done by following the rules, otherwise a new lockdown threatens.

Code Orange means that Dutch holidaymakers on Curacao must be quarantined when they return to the Netherlands.

TUI has now canceled its package trips. Individual airline tickets are still being sold for the time being and flights will not be canceled yet - that probably depends on the demand for tickets in the near future.
