WILLEMSTAD - The situation in Curaçao requires a swift completion of the formation process of the new cabinet, says the Curaçao Business Association (VBC). “Decisions have to be made quickly. We have no time to waste.”
According to the VBC, the new Pisas cabinet must take its responsibilities as soon as possible. The new coalition of MFK and PNP will have to make progress at the negotiating table about the next tranche of liquidity support from the Netherlands and the accompanying Caribbean Body for Reform and Development (COHO).
It is therefore important that the screening of the candidate ministers is completed as soon as possible, according to the VBC, so that the new cabinet can get to work quickly.
The association says it is pleased with the statements of the intended Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania (MFK), who recently said that the new cabinet will quickly meet with Undersecretary Raymond Knops of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in order to maintain liquidity support.
The VBC is willing to contribute to "devising and working on plans to promote economic growth for all citizens in Curaçao".
