WILLEMSTAD - The police managed to free 44 victims of human trafficking last year. This is according to the US human trafficking report 2019.
These are victims of sex trade and forced labor. All but one are Venezuelans. 33 people from this group were returned.
Nine Venezuelans helped to catch their smugglers and therefore received a residence permit.
