Tourism/Travel | By Correspondent December 9, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Avila Beach Hotel is marking this week the ten-year anniversary of its acquisition by the Vogels family, a milestone that reflects a decade of extensive investment, modernization, and sustainability efforts while preserving the hotel’s historic character. The anniversary was announced by Avila Beach Hotel in a press release.

Since taking over the hotel in 2015, the Vogels family has carried out major renovations and upgrades. Over the past decade, the hotel’s beaches, Octagon rooms, Blues Restaurant, and The Pen Restaurant have all been refurbished. New Oceanfront Blues rooms, Beachfront Apartments, and several suites and penthouses in La Belle Alliance were also added. In addition, the hotel invested in reef restoration, sustainability initiatives, technology, and security. Both the fitness center and the Cloud Nine Spa underwent complete upgrades.

The family’s involvement in the hospitality sector has continued to expand. Dorian Vogels, the son of Katja and Will Vogels, has joined the Avila Beach Hotel team and is also involved in the development of TUI BLUE Curaçao, the family’s new resort scheduled to open in Santa Martha in the summer of 2026.

According to Managing Director Robbin Vogels, the anniversary is an opportunity to express appreciation to the Curaçao community. He stated that Avila is “more than a hotel” for the family and forms part of the island’s cultural heritage.

To mark the occasion, the hotel is launching a special anniversary promotion for residents of Curaçao. Newsletter subscribers can enter a draw to win prizes including a weekend stay, beach passes, massages, fitness passes, and dinner vouchers. Registration is available through the hotel’s website, with winners to be announced in the December 17 newsletter. In addition, Avila Beach Hotel is donating ANG 10,000 to ten local foundations and distributing another ANG 10,000 among its staff.
