WILLEMSTAD – Travel company Corendon achieved its highest flight occupancy rate ever on routes to Curaçao in December, with an average seat load of 99 percent across all flights during the month. The figures underscore Curaçao’s strong appeal as a winter sun destination, particularly during the holiday season.
According to Corendon, demand for sun, beaches and island life was exceptionally high in December. Commercial Director Martin de Boer described the results as remarkable. “These are numbers you pause to reflect on. Nearly every seat filled in December shows just how strongly Curaçao resonates with travelers. People are looking for sunshine, quality and friendliness, and Curaçao brings all of that together,” he said.
Curaçao remains one of the most popular winter destinations in the Caribbean, a trend Corendon says is reflected not only in flight bookings but also in hotel occupancy across the island. Travelers increasingly choose destinations that are both tropical and easily accessible. Corendon also notes that more passengers are aware that its Curaçao route functions as a regular scheduled service between Amsterdam and Willemstad, offering competitively priced tickets outside traditional package holidays.
The company offers a broad range of accommodations on the island, catering to different types of travelers. Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort focuses on all-inclusive vacations, particularly appealing to families. The Rif at Mangrove Beach targets travelers seeking a more upscale experience with modern amenities and a strong emphasis on relaxation. Both properties are part of Hilton’s Curio Collection.
For visitors drawn to culture and city life, The Ritz Curaçao combines historic character with a creative, urban atmosphere in the heart of Willemstad. Outside the city, the recently renovated Livingstone Jan Thiel Resort provides a relaxed base near Jan Thiel Beach, while Kunuku Aqua Resort offers a more tranquil setting in the island’s greener western region.
In addition, Corendon’s ByJune brand offers small-scale boutique accommodations aimed at travelers looking for a more personal and stylish experience, away from mass tourism while remaining close to the island’s main attractions.
Corendon currently operates five weekly flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao, increasing to six flights per week during peak holiday periods. Passengers can choose between full travel packages and standalone flight tickets, a flexibility that the company says continues to drive strong demand for the destination.
