WILLEMSTAD — Curaçao International Airport has swiftly addressed a recent delay in baggage handling after identifying a technical calibration issue within the airport’s baggage processing system. The issue was detected during a joint audit conducted by the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority and the Transportation Security Administration, according to a statement released by Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP).
CAP emphasized that the discovery highlights the strength of international cooperation and the airport’s commitment to meeting the highest safety and security standards. A solution has now been implemented, and the baggage handling machine is expected to be fully operational by Friday.
In the meantime, all luggage has been securely stored at a protected location. The airport confirmed that suitcases are being re-screened during the night and early morning hours and will be gradually loaded onto flights starting Friday and in the days that follow.
Passengers are advised to check the status of their baggage directly with their respective airlines. CAP stated that travelers will continue to be informed as further updates become available.
Airport officials stressed that safety remains the top priority and expressed appreciation for passengers’ patience and cooperation. The prompt resolution of the issue, they noted, demonstrates the airport’s ability to respond effectively while maintaining strict security and operational standards.
