WILLEMSTAD - LATAM, the largest airline group in Latin America, officially touched down in Curaçao with its inaugural flights from Bogotá and Lima. The launch marks an important milestone in strengthening the island’s connectivity and expanding Curaçao’s presence in the South American market. Minister of Economic Development Roderick Middelhof was present at the airport to welcome the aircraft and celebrate what he called a historic moment.

LATAM is considered a key partner for Curaçao, helping position the island as a prominent tourism destination. Travelers from across South America are increasingly seeking authentic destinations where they can connect directly with local culture, history and heritage.
Flights from Bogotá will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The new Lima–Curaçao route will also run three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The new Peru connection aligns closely with Curaçao’s strategic goal of opening more travel corridors within South America, making the island more accessible to the region. At the same time, these new LATAM routes offer Curaçao residents additional travel options.
In his remarks, Minister Middelhof expressed deep appreciation to LATAM and thanked all partners involved for making Curaçao’s new direct connections possible.
“These new direct flights represent an important step in strengthening our footprint in South America. Thanks to LATAM’s extensive network, we are opening new opportunities for tourism, business travel and cultural exchange between our communities.”
Upon landing, the inaugural flights received a traditional water salute from the airport’s fire service, followed by an official ceremony attended by representatives of the government, LATAM, Curaçao Airport Holding, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and CHATA.
The Ministry of Economic Development congratulated LATAM on the launch of its new routes and looks forward to a strong, long-term partnership that supports sustainable growth and new opportunities for Curaçao.
