KRALENDIJK – A World2Fly flight operating under the Corendon brand on the Amsterdam–Bonaire–Curaçao–Amsterdam route has been grounded on Bonaire since Monday evening due to a technical issue.
The aircraft was unable to depart after a problem with the air conditioning system was detected during its stop at Flamingo Airport. Passengers, who had already endured a long transatlantic journey, remained on board the aircraft for approximately an additional hour and a half while the issue was assessed.
Corendon confirmed that it is in close consultation with World2Fly, which is responsible for the operational execution of the flight. Arrangements are being made on Bonaire to accommodate the 422 passengers currently on board, who are being housed in various hotels on the island.
In addition, overnight accommodations have been arranged on Curaçao for the 180 passengers awaiting the return leg of the flight to Amsterdam.
According to Corendon, the flight is expected to resume on the morning of December 17. The delay is attributed to mandatory crew rest requirements as well as repair work scheduled to be carried out overnight.
