Local, | By Correspondent January 28, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Projectteam Toezicht en Handhaving removed 49 illegally placed advertising objects on Tuesday in the area surrounding Jan Thiel. The enforcement action took place along the main route leading to the Jan Thiel beach area.

According to the project team, the removed items included campaign boards and other forms of advertising material that had been installed without a permit on public property. These objects were attached to streetlights, roundabouts, and other forms of public street furniture.

The placement of advertising on public infrastructure is not permitted under current regulations. This includes attaching signs to lampposts, placing advertisements on or near roundabouts, and using traffic-related infrastructure for promotional purposes.

The Projectteam Toezicht en Handhaving has called on individuals and organizations wishing to place promotional or advertising material to first apply for the required permits through the Ruimtelijke Ontwikkelingsplanning.

Authorities emphasized that enforcement actions will continue to ensure compliance with regulations governing the use of public space.
