WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has introduced a series of updated regulatory documents designed to help gaming operators meet their obligations under the Landsverordening op de Kansspelen (LOK) to a stricter, more transparent licensing regime.
Published on January 20, 2026, the updates were made available through the CGA’s online portal and aim to promote greater clarity, consistency, and transparency in how licensed operators comply with their legal responsibilities under the LOK. The changes affect both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) license holders.
Among the key additions are four new or revised documents that provide detailed guidance on regulatory obligations. These include an updated Online Portal User’s Manual featuring new modules for incident and player complaint reporting, clear Domain Management guidelines for licensed operators, updated API technical recommendations, and a guide outlining portal user roles and access rights.
One notable change requires licensees to report incidents promptly through the portal, in line with article 5.10 of the LOK, ensuring that events affecting compliance or public safety are logged without delay. The updated Player Complaint Reporting section also establishes a structured process for operators to submit periodic reports on complaints by category, reflecting the CGA’s ongoing push to enhance consumer protection standards.
The regulatory overhaul is part of Curaçao’s broader effort to modernise its gaming sector following the adoption of the LOK, which replaced the former master-licence and sub-licence model with a direct licensing system under the CGA’s oversight. The reforms aim to bring the island closer to international best practices in transparency, supervision, and accountability.
Industry observers say the updated compliance documents are an important step in solidifying Curaçao’s credentials as a well-regulated jurisdiction for online gambling operations, helping licensed operators navigate evolving obligations while reinforcing rules intended to protect players and uphold legal standards.
