Former Minister Javier Silvania to Return to Curaçao Parliament on February 2

Local, | By Correspondent January 27, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Former minister Javier Silvania will return to the Curaçao Parliament on February 2 as a member of the MFK faction. Silvania announced his return in a post on Facebook.

Silvania has not attended any parliamentary meetings since his resignation on October 22 last year. According to his own statement, he spent the past months on vacation. He denied speculation that this period was used to prepare for a move as an independent Member of Parliament or for the creation of a new political party.

After Silvania stepped down as Minister of Finance and Minister of Health, Environment and Nature, Tyron Boekhoudt voluntarily resigned from the cabinet. Silvania subsequently took over that ministerial portfolio.

Boekhoudt has since been sworn in as Minister of Health, Environment and Nature.

Silvania’s return marks his re-entry into active parliamentary work within the Movementu Futuro Korsou faction in the Staten van Curaçao.
