WILLEMSTAD – On Monday, January 19, 2026, the Director of Fundashon Birgen di Rosario, Indra Rossen-Lucasius, paid a working visit to the Governor of Curaçao, Mauritsz de Kort.

During the meeting, Rossen-Lucasius provided an overview of the elderly care services that Fundashon Birgen di Rosario has been delivering to the Curaçao community for more than 83 years. She highlighted the foundation’s longstanding social role and its importance within the island’s system of care for senior citizens.

The discussion also addressed broader challenges facing the healthcare sector, particularly in light of Curaçao’s aging population. Attention was given to structural pressures on elderly care, as well as concerns surrounding the financing of long-term care and the sustainability of the healthcare system as a whole.

Governor De Kort expressed his appreciation for the foundation’s decades-long commitment and dedication to elderly care on the island. He emphasized the importance of developing a sustainable and future-proof approach to caring for Curaçao’s aging population.

The meeting underscored the growing urgency of addressing demographic change and ensuring that elderly care remains accessible, affordable, and resilient in the years ahead.
