WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, January 22, Minister Tyron Boekhoudt of Public Health, Environment and Nature paid his first official working visit to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

During the visit, Minister Boekhoudt met with various members of the CMC management team and received a presentation from CMC’s Director General, Johan de Graaf, on the current situation at the hospital and the measures being taken to ensure the quality of healthcare in Curaçao.

In this context, the minister was also briefed on the rescheduling of elective surgeries due to issues with the hospital’s sterilization system, as announced by CMC earlier this week. CMC provided a detailed explanation of the recent developments and assured the minister that the quality and continuity of hospital care remain safeguarded in the interest of the people of Curaçao and, in particular, CMC patients.

Minister Boekhoudt expressed satisfaction with the information provided, especially regarding the activities and initiatives planned for the year ahead. It was also agreed that, in coordination with the Social Insurance Bank (SVB), discussions will continue on measures aimed at reducing waiting lists at the Curaçao Medical Center.
