Netherlands to Continue Governance and Anti-Corruption Focus in Curaçao

Local, | By Correspondent February 2, 2026

THE HAGUE - The new coalition government has confirmed that its cooperation with Curaçao will continue to place strong emphasis on good governance, financial discipline and the fight against corruption. The agreement states that the Netherlands will work with Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten on sustainable economic development and education through long-term agreements.

The coalition explicitly links economic support and development to governance reforms, underlining the importance of tackling undermining crime and corruption across the Kingdom. According to the document, the objective is to strengthen institutions and improve administrative capacity, while increasing the resilience of the island economies.

The Dutch government describes this approach as necessary to ensure sustainable growth and social stability within the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
