WILLEMSTAD – Colombian immigration authorities have arrested and deported a man from Curaçao who was wanted and found to be staying illegally in the Colombian city of Valledupar. The action was confirmed by Migración Colombia.

According to the immigration service, the man had been in Colombia since February and was deported for violating immigration regulations and disturbing public order. Authorities reported that he displayed intimidating and aggressive behavior, which may have been linked to the use of psychoactive substances.
The Curaçao national was detained during immigration checks carried out at hotels in Valledupar as part of routine enforcement operations. Following his arrest, deportation proceedings were initiated and completed.
“The deportation aims to uphold regulations and protect the safety of citizens and visitors,” said Gloria Esperanza Arriero López, Director-General of Migración Colombia, in a statement.
No further details were released about whether the man is facing additional legal proceedings upon his return to Curaçao.
